Using the Bible to Learn Japanese; Bible Japanese Vocabulary

One great way to learn a language is to use written material that you are already familiar with.

So why not use the most popular book of all time?

My favorite way to do this is to use the iOS app Kougo-KJV, it looks like this;

It is a KJV bible with furigana (the small hiragana above the kanji) which will allow you to phonetically read the text and learn the pronunciation of the kanji at the same time.

It is a great way to not only learn Japanese, but also learn scripture.

That being said, let’s get to some vocabulary itself;

1 John Chapter 1	ヨハネの手紙第一 1 章	HELP! -or- A stroll in the park with Kanji

9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.	9 もし、私たちが自分の罪を言い表（あらわ）すなら、神は真実（しんじつ）で正（ただ）しい方（かた）ですから、その罪を赦（ゆる）し、すべての悪（あく）から私たちをきよめてくださいます。	言い表す – express, describe(confess) 真実 – truth, reality 正しい方 – right, correct being (the one who is correct) 赦し – to forgive 悪 – evil, bad きよめる – purify, clean
10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.	10 もし、罪を犯（おか）してはいないと言うなら、私たちは神を偽り者（いつわりもの）とするのです。神のみことばは私たちのうちにありません。	犯して – commit, violate 偽り者 – liar ( lie + person ) みことば – The Word (” み ” denotes honor)
